Thread: New D Lineman

    Default New D Lineman

I noticed Big Ole freshman DL Matt Simons from Statesboro has been added to the roster with number 50. Even though he went to a private school, he is a big, strong, tough nose guard type, country boy.
    Congrats to him !

They don't report until next week I believe...the 21st. If he signed in early(Spring) he may be able to be on the roster. Not too sure. But I like having another big DL.

I worked with this kid's dad. He was always showing me videos of his kid playing football. Good people and big fans of GSU athletics! Glad to see a hometown kid stick around and play.

Matt went to BA and signed to be a walk-on in the spring.

I'm also glad to see a local stay home and play for the Eagles.

“My family and I went to Jacksonville University to look at another Division I-AA school,” said Simons. “The next morning, I just woke up and told my dad that I wanted to go to Georgia Southern. I’ve always wanted to play football at Georgia Southern. It’s going to be a lot of work but I believe I can do it.”

Just did a quick look at several of the rosters in the SOCON and we may have the most 300 pounders in the conference....if so it would be the first time ever I believe. Not saying that they have a lot of small lineman...just so different. But you still have to have the "Wants".
