    Default RIP Mel McBride

Just saw a post from Lunsford on Facebook. Horrible news to see/hear.

If you don't know he was former player under Erk and very heavily involved in the program.

Such sad news for our Eagle Nation. Mel was instrumental in the success of EFAA.

Hate to hear that. I never met him, but know the name and who he is by the great things he's done for the program. RIP to a GREAT Eagle!

Horrible. Had lunch with mel not to long ago and he was a great person and I thought I bled blue, he was Georgia southern through and through. Prayers for his wife sunshine and the kids. Mel had some of the best stories of erk and He will be missed.

I didn't know Mel as well as some of you, but every time I interacted with him, he was as friendly as he could be. And there was no doubt his love for Georgia Southern.... big, big loss for EagleNation. RIP Mel. Prayers go out to his wife, kids, family, and those of you that knew him so well.

What a football player and what a person. Mel will be deeply missed. He came to Georgia Southern from Robert Toombs Christian Academy in Lyons. At the time, it was in Class A of the Georgia Independent Schools Association (GISA). Not many people gave him a chance but Mel would rise above the naysayers. Mel had a competitive spirit and there was no better mentor than Erk Russell to motivate him. Mel went on to become a great linebacker and a great spokesman and supporter of Eagle football. He became a successful businessman, gave back generously to Our University...and was just a mighty fine person. I will miss him deeply like so many others. I feel for his family, his many friends, former teammates and Eagle Nation. Love you my friend. GATA.

Gonna have to wait a couple of weeks since I just donated to the Finish Strong campaign. But will certainly do so.
