Thread: What percent right now would you give to a 2020 college football season?

Wouldn’t it be just like us to run the table with our remaining games this year, win the conference, get an access bowl invite, win that and then have to stare at a huge asterisk on our 2020 record for the rest of our lives?

Are we the only ones dealing with the pandemic? It's a level playing field. Literally everyone has the same issues.

I don't see where we would have the financial ability to pay a second FCS team, hopefully we can pay the one we have left but if the conference moves to conference-only games, we would lose the Campbell game but save $325k. In my mind, replacing the Ole Miss game with a G5 home and home for this year and a future date makes the most sense- if financials are an issue than the team hosting in 2020 can cover cost of travel for the away team and then the away team in 2020 can reciprocate costs when they host for the return game.

We're still on the hook to pay and play Campbell. That game hasn't been cancelled yet. We wouldn't be paying another FCS school $325k. Their option is either not play a game at all and make no money or come to Paulson and play us for a few bucks, so the ball is in our court. Any money we make on top of that is extra revenue.

Look at Kennesaw State's schedule. It has more holes in it that Swiss cheese. I'm sure they'd much rather make the short trip south for some money than sit at home and make no money. Our fans would show up to a game like that. We need to make money somehow. Even if we offered them $100k to cover travel plus a little extra and we made $200k off the game, that's still a profit of $100k that we wouldn't have otherwise made if we gave a G5 school a free game with the hope we'd make that money back in 6 years.

Kennesaw has lost 4 games thus far. How would you like to be BYU--6 games lost (including 2 home games w/ P-5 teams), or Liberty--4 games lost, or UConn--6 games lost? There's going to be some scrambling going on.

The only teams guaranteed to have ANY games are the P5.

I'm not even convinced the G5 plays any games.

100% chance there will be a season. NFL has already committed and they're not going to be stopped. College Presidents and ADs already laying the PR groundwork to play football this fall.

+1, for us, we don’t have a lot of money laying around, we ain’t Bama, Ohio State etc... not playing, not having fans in stands will hurt us big time.

If we follow the 20% rule that's only 5K fans per game. Got to let students in too, so 3K season ticket holders and 2K students?

Also Pac 12 football players want socialism in college athletics.
