Did a good job with ST but I won't miss his TE coaching.

Blocking off the edge has not been good. Based on how good our special teams was when Lunsford was the special teams coordinator in 2016 I wonder how much Dodge actually had to with special teams. I remember against Texas State in 2018 it was Lunsford going over the play on the onside kick recovery.

So there's now a TE/ST and WR position open.

We could get creative here cause it gives us the opportunity to get some new blood on staff that could help reinforce/improve what we're trying to do.

I'm all for any change to help fix our edge blocking.

I think Lunsford will find someone good. He has to see this problem.

I was thinking along the lines of a Co-OC/OL (who could handle part of the OL and TEs since we basically use them like OL anyway), with a really good WR coach and Lunsford taking over ST. Between him and Doc consulting, that's more than covered.

That lets us keep the other guys around and injects some new blood into the decision making process as well as bringing someone in that could help with our blocking woes.

I have a WR coach in mind but not for the other position. It would be something similar to what UNM did when they brought Saga in.

    Like I said, get creative.

If we went flexbone we wouldn't need TE, and the WR would only need to block. Since its the flexbone, we'd score a TD on every possession, so no need to punt or kick FGs. Kick Offs are easy with the new rules, just boot it and never have to worry about a return.

That should save enough money on coaches to bring in PJ as our run game consultant.

I really don't think size has much to do with it.

The problems I'm seeing look like confusion about whom to block, and when.

Too many times, we have seen multiple missed blocks on a single play. Size ain't got nothing to do with not even attempting a block.
