Default ESPN Top 150 College Coaches

I havenít seen this posted yet but feel free to move or delete if needed. Saw the ESPN list of top 150 college football coaches of all time, Erk checking in at 100 and PJ at 102. Thoughts?

Odd with as big a gap as there is in the abilities of those two that Coach Russell is only two coaches better than him

    Man.....

Erk was robbed. I don't think anyone has ever experienced his kind of success so fast from ground zero.

I wish he had coached at least 5 more years. No telling what would have happened.

No question Erk was better..... But he also had a much shorter career as a HC. Less time to show his faults (if there were any.)

We all know he is #1 in our book, but no question he should definitely be in the top 50 in this list. I think he often gets overlooked because he is not in the HOF.

Out of 150 years of head coaches in college football history, Erk is #100 with < 10 years of time at HC.

The fact he's made the list at all is a damn accomplishment.

We may be biased, but think about how crazy it is that he's on this list. That shows the respect he has.

Very thankful to see Erk on the list, and he should be (and one day WILL BE) in the College Football Hall of Fame. He also won an SEC Championship as a baseball coach, and won at least one state championship as a head coach at the high school level. Paul assisted Erk, so good to see him on the list. We all know they both should be in the top 50, minimum. Hope to see PJ back on the sidelines soon!

As a side note, I personally don't think any of paterno's wins with slumdusty should count, and he should be way down the list. If something like that, God forbid, ever happened at a school I attended, you would never, ever see me with any connection to that school. State Penn (perv state) fans should be ashamed. Got zero use for anybody that messes with kids, in any negative manner.

And while I am on my high and mighty soap box, Bowden's wins at South Georgia College should count, which by my count puts him ahead of paterno, He, Bowden, also was a standout basketball coach while in Douglas - coached one of my uncles for a couple of seasons. Still has some kind of a get-together with his old players from there, or at least did so until recently. I mention him, partly because of his positive comments and recognition of Erk's motivational skills. Bowden spoke of great admiration of Erk, perhaps with a good-natured tone of jealousy. His son's, like Erk's, also are fine football coaches!

Perhaps one day you may see a couple more former Georgia Southern head football coaches on the list: Monken and Fritz, no offense to Coach Sewak, a great guy! Maybe even CL, time will tell. Not holding out hope for any of the others - sorry/not sorry Reese's - it's chocolate time.
Fire Sam Baker! The rest will take care of itself.

What’s to the left of Fritz?

    That big old carpet bag?

Yep. Without Erk, Vince Dooley might not be as high on this list.
