I read on football scoop that he’s willing to part ways with the flexbone. If that happened there would be some total meltdowns around these parts.

He’d be a totally unknown quantity if he did that, unless he snagged a proven rock star OC.

Not saying he couldn’t pull it off, but it ups his risk factor exponentially.

The only way a school would even go for it is if he already has a plan in place of who he would bring in or how he would transition.

Would that make Brent Davis the frontrunner for Army HC?

I'm pretty sure it would. Monken would need to sell another OC to the search committee instead of just saying "me and Brent will make it work".

Of course, that would also take Davis out of play for us in the future.

Apparently the book on Davis is that he’s really good doing what he’s doing, but he may never be seen as HC material.

Davis is out of play (probably mutually at this point) for us as long as TK is our AD. Also, see above.

I can see Davis taking a big raise to be OL coach and co-OC at Monken’s next stop, while Monken adds a QB coach/co-OC of spread offense renown.

Monken’s got the connections, and he’s a brave, shrewd HC when it comes to hiring assistants.
    Thanks, Rastabot!
