that was my point EXACTLY. Lots of luck for any SB team to ever make Access Bowl, including us as the way it stands now. That is why I said we should pull for EVERY SB football program to get better, much better.

They also played a weak OOC.

Two things to keep in mind with some of the stuff going on.

We have two independently owned/run bowls that are not controlled by ESPN. One of those has been ride or die with the SBC for a long time. You do NOT want to upset those relationships. You want to keep them happy. We don't need to start losing relationships especially to groups that have been loyal to the conference.

Also, this is the last year of the Arizona bowl tie in. This would be the year to give them the worst of our possible matchups....which is why it's likely Gast gets sent out there. They can't put 5k in their home stadium so there's no way they'll sell well for a bowl 3 hours away....might as well send them across the country.

I assume the first bowl you're talking about is New Orleans?
They would be ecstatic if they got a chance to host ULL-La Tech and would probably rather have that game than any involving App.

And Cure isn't likely getting one of the top 2 teams anyways and probably be fine with us or Ark State.

Cure WILL be ESPN next year, yes?
Do not discount the amount of influence they will have this year on Cure though

and I think ESPN wants APP to be the next UCF
But APP has to produce results obviously
but my guess is they will utilize their influence to bring this about

    just MHO

I don’t think ESPN wants another UCF at all, let alone one that would need ESPN’s help to be created.

Just because they couldn’t help it doesn’t change the fact they haven’t played a ranked opponent all year while Memphis and Cincy have.

Correct..next year it's an ESPN bowl

It wouldn't surprise me if they are trying to pitch them as the next UCF given how much attention they tend to give the Michigan win. I don't feel like they many many other upsets as much as they do that one, but maybe I just don't notice..
