35-7 Eagles. Last Saturday's 3 OT win pays off dividends the rest of the season and we play the rest of the year with a "One More Time" attitude. Eagle Nation shows up even though its just NMSU with 19,245 in attendance.

I hate to reference Summers but in 2017 he always said the team was hammering the rock, hammering the rock, and he knew it would break eventually. Lunsford even said as much once he took over. And then a few games in, we exploded against USA and ULL. My hope is that through the last few games (short week, bad weather conditions) and getting things sorted out on OL with snaps and having Shai and Kennedy back for a few games, the team will finally ‘break the rock’ and have a game where it all comes together. I don’t know if it will happen, but I think this game is our best shot to go out and really just beat up on somebody.

They have both the 3rd worst offense and 3rd worst defense in the league. I think this game looks like Maine except we don't fumble the ball 7 times leaving 28+ points on the field.

LAS CRUCES - Following seven straight games to open the season, New Mexico State football coach Doug Martin gave players most of the open week off. "We are so beat up right now that even the guys who aren't missing a lot of games are playing hurt," said Martin, whose team is 0-7. "They just need rest and emotionally they needed to get away from it for a couple of days and clear their minds."

The Aggies practiced on Thursday and will practice on Sunday in preparation for Saturday's road game at Georgia Southern. "Nobody expected to be 0-7," Martin said. "We certainly felt that we would be more competitive. We knew the schedule would be difficult, but that and injuries along the offensive line, where those guys have done just as good as you can do."

But when the Aggies do return to the practice field, the focus will continue to rest on ball security and third down on both sides of the ball. NM State's 19 turnovers are the most in FBS while the Aggies four forced turnovers are second to last in FBS. "Everything is a long field," Martin said. "We haven't had many short drives to score points."

The Aggies are No. 106 in third down conversion offense (34.38 percent) and No. 109 on defense (44.3 percent). They were 36 percent on offense last season and 44 percent in 2017, which was No. 31 in the country on offense and No. 7 on defense (29.6 percent). "We are not good on third down on either side of the ball," Martin said. "Those things (turnovers and third down) are obvious things that are hurting our football team."

"I feel sorry for the seniors because we have a great senior class here," Martin said. "They have put a lot of sweat into this thing. We have five games left for them to go out and play with a lot of pride and that's what they have to bank on."

This is the worst defense we play all year. I'm thinking a 35-24 type win.

Outside of App, we face some bad defenses for the 2nd half of the season.

    NMSU - 17.2
    App State - 55.5
    Troy - 24.2
    ULM - 25.7
    stAte - 37.4
    GaSt - 27.0

For comparison, here those we've faced so far:

    LSU - 66.0 (3 points)
    Minny - 67.2 (18 points)
    ULL - 52.3 (24 points)
    USA - 32.0 (27 points)
    CCU - 38.3 (30 points)

I'm actually surprised folks think they are gonna score +20 pts on us. I can easily see this being one of our best defensive games

My main concern with them is that they're a passing team and can exploit our weakness at safety more easily than teams like Coastal. Obviously, I'm talking schematically more than actual one-on-one matches.

We gave up more points to them last year than we really should have considering what they were offensively, but maybe with the game being at home we'll do btter.
