Thread: Post game show on Georgia Southern Radio Network embarrassment to our brand

The format for most post games shows is basically the same- recap the game, go over stats, coach and player interviews, other scores in college football, call in questions/comments and discuss the game, look ahead to the next game. Not really complicated.

I suspect it’s more complicated that we realize. The format structure is simple enough, no doubt.

I think it’s important to say we just want it to be a First Class production. It is a reflection on our program. However, it’s not an attack on those involved. It’s more like a plea.

It’s easy to point fingers AND it’s easy to be defensive when people call you out.

There’s always room for improvement AND understanding that walking in another one’s shoes gives perspective.

It makes sense when gsudarlin explains the extended game length and need to get the quantity of commercials in. Definitely creates a crunch for the team to get all the info in they want and the coach and player timing for interviews. I’ve heard some good shows where we had a normal game length.

How many people are calling in? I seem to recall a former poster, who's son was on our team, making comments about being about the only one of few every week. This was the Monken era when his child played.
No longer eating crow for saying "The TO is gone get over it!!"

Hardly anyone. There are a few tweets every now and then, but really nothing.

They recap the game, including playing the calls of the highlights, do scores around the conference/country, get coach and players when they become available.

Sometimes they get told coach will be out in 2 and it's more like 6. They are last in the order of go unfortunately.
There is no assistant coach on the show this year, so that's cut down on some of the informal chatter some complained about.

Again, some of the music issues aren't anything our guys can control. If you can tell us which channels, perhaps they can reach out to them on non-gamedays and make sure it's discussed.

Again, learfield sets a certain allotment of time for the games. If we go over, that can cause problems with the host channels. You never really know you need the extra time until it's happening, so it's a bit of a scramble mid-game to get ahold of them and have it added, and then if the stations have an automated system, it may not get corrected on their end. As Frank said, this weekend there were some technical difficulties due to the storm. Perhaps the guys did announce there would be a slight delay and it got missed in the midst of all the commercials, or perhaps they were too busy trying to correct it that it slipped their mind. Also, they can't really control the # of commercials that are sold, so they fit them in when they can. We need the money, so I imagine people are going to try to sell as many as possible

We are lucky to have Danny. He does a great job. Harvin is a complete homer and a joke. If you've sitting in the stands that's one thing, but you can't be that way on the air.

Not nearly as embarrassing as the students leaving at halftime unless we're playing App State, the hair guitar that clearly nobody ever wants to do, and abundance of jumbo tron crowd shots.

I love Harvo just as he is!

What’s wrong with being a homer on our own network?
