This much energy and destructive power is nothing to mess around with. People are gonna be shocked at how bad this was in the Bahamas. Those islands will absolutely destroyed.... Probably like nothing anyone alive has ever seen before.
Just one mph westward motion over the next few hours, before the front starts really steering this thing will make a tremendous difference.
Fortunately, Matthew passed just far enough offshore that it wasn't a catastrophic storm. We may not get super lucky twice in a row.
I'm praying it gets a push from somewhere and heads toward England, I have most of my family live between Daytona, Orlando, Tampa, Lake Wales , Jacksonville and Hinesville Ga. Not good for this monstrous beast. 180 mph.
