As far as the student run station - don't they have their own radio team calling the game?
    I don’t think so.

I tuned in before one of the games and nothing but the same old was playing.

    nope
No coverage of any athletic events as far as I can tell

    which I don’t understand
unless it has something to do with rights of the stations that are supposed to carry the games locally

    That’s probably part of it...

I do know that WVGS is non-commercial so that probably would probably prevent a simulcast of the network also.

I think Learfield would have something to say about that.

I do sort of wonder about the idea of students doing their own game show.

It seems like it could be a cool idea, and a good way to get some kids good experience.

Probably an issue of manpower, really. Would take at least a couple people at the game and a couple back at the station to run stuff. Would need some kind of microwave repeater, I think.

It might be worth exploring. Not sure how many people are taking radio classes these days.

Probably the biggest hurdle would be finding someone good at the live call. That’s gotta be tough to do. Got to know a good bit about the game. Much more than most casual observers would.

If memory serves, students did their own broadcast back in mid or late 90s. It was interesting.

I think they were still doing it in the early 00s as well.

They did. I did play-by-play for couple of games in 2001. They broadcast all of the homes games and at least one away game that season.

Ok glad others backed me up, at one point the student radio station did broadcast the game. I wonder if the move to FBS changed that? Or was it the Learfield contract?
