You are correct, 5 of the last 24 were G5's. In football and basketball that would be 0-24 each.

Pending the way you view conferences (some are not technically G5, but also not P5), Basketball has more... recent title winners include UCONN (multiple), Louisville (as a G5) and Villanova (multiple). IMO I would count a Cal State Fullerton in baseball similar to a Villanova in basketball.

But I agree, if GS has a legitimate chance at a national title in one of the three major sports, no doubt it is baseball.

Without looking it up both Lousiville and Nova were some of the top all time programs in college basketball. Not sure anyone considers them a G5. Gonzaga plays in a G5 conference but they are considered one of the top 30 teams in the country, and the yearly rankings are proof.

Georgia Southern pitcher Joe Nahas signed a free agent contract with the Chicago Cubs after an impressive showing in the Cape Cod league this summer. He will receive a $135,000 signing bonus, which is the most that a non-drafted free agent has received this year so far.

good to hear, Cubs will keep him around a few years and give the kid a chance to develop.

They want him to be on the team full time, he just hasn't made that jump yet. Last year he was a call up for the expanded post season roster and came up a few times with others were hurt. So he's right on the cusp of making the 25 man roster.
