Thread: NCAA Transfer Policy

  1. Default NCAA Transfer Policy

Does anyone know what the rules are exactly on transfers within the NCAA?
If you go down a division you do not have to sit out and if you transfer within the same division you have to sit out unless you win an appeal?
Would be nice to see JD King be eligible next year. Justin Fields is about to be eligible from the start at Ohio St "because of what happened in the stands" but yet his sister is enrolling to play softball in Athens. So Athens must not be that bad.

It's all on the NCAA website. Football and maybe a couple other sports are treated differently than all others.

There are also four new transfer rules that are being discussed and will be up for approval during the current cycle. If approved, they'll possibly be effective in April. At least one of them addresses being able to transfer an play immediately if the coach leaves given certain conditions.

Someone said there was a new rule coming that would let King play immediately but I don't know what that would be.

If Fields is granted immediate eligibility based on the weak racial thing then the transfer rules are a farce and we have what amounts to free agency in college football, where any and every player is free to move anywhere any off season without having to sit out. I don't know whether that is good or bad but that will be the result.

Free agency for OSU, AL, UGA, ND, USC, etc but not someone in Sun belt, G5, etc.

I would see the G5 becoming the minor league for the top echelon P5. They would "call up" the cream of the crop and let all but the 5*'s develop in the G5 and prove if they are bust or not. Any diamond in the rough that begins to shine would then be plucked.

He will be, because big $$$$ schools must be appeased at all costs.

The NCAA is far beyond giving half a rat's *** whether they appear to be legit.
