Stole this from the Sun Belt board and thought it may be worth discussing. Any thoughts on grading CCL and staff this first go at it?

Our 247 guy doesn't do a good job of specifically linking recruiters to recruits.

Or it just may be that he doesn't get that info.

If you look back to 2016 Lunsford was the #1 recruiter in the conference with 10 commits attributed to him.

Recruiting is definitely not his weakness at all.

What a stupid list. We had three coaches with one recruit each for three recruits total. Obviously, that does not even pass the common sense test.

This recruiting class won't be sexy. I like the needs being addressed.

Coaches are assigned certain areas and they recruit student athletes from high schools within their assigned areas. Some years they might sign more recruits than in other years. Sense talent is cyclical, a coach might be considered a good recruiter to get a commitment from one or two players in talent-lean years while in talent-rich years, the coach who signs the same number as he did in talent-lean years would be considered a weak recruiter. The key to recruiting, like almost everything in life, is building relationships. Some will be better relationship builders than others, but in the end, kids will usually go where they think they feel the most comfortable; consequently, the number of commits a particular coach signs does not necessarily mean they are good or bad recruiters.

He pulled the highest rated class in Sun Belt history after going 2-10. Both Fritz and Summers wanted him in 2016 for his recruiting ability. Heck, he got commitments as an interim coach of a winless team last year. I think he does alright.

It's "weakness"... and delete this. Stupid on multiple levels.

Well there you have it. The geneass sidslidkid said it, delete any discussion grading staff recruiting performance. Funny I don't see CCL's name next to the three on the list. He's obviously getting an overall A+ but now that his job requires new and significantly different responsibilities can he maintain that high level performance of past recruiting delegating to others? Nothing to see here. One qb in two years.
