For reference: $1MM today is worth about $748M in 2004.

I remember when Spurrier was the first to break $1MM per year (1996 I think)

Bowden had a contract that was richer than that but under $1MM per year in base I think, probably a year or two before.

And just think.......a big portion of this time has been in a recession..... somebody crunch the numbers on salary growth of FBS HC compared to the avg joe between the early 2000’s and now, could be interesting. Then compare that to salary growth of a beleaguered but important industry.....say like public education.

I remember back when we played UGA back in 2000 (I think it was the Statesboro Herald) comparing budgets of the two schools and ours was $7 million and UGAs $20 million and I thought that was really high.

It's threads like these where you begin to ponder, "man, I AM getting old", I'll always remember when SI came out with the cover story, the first singles hitter to make 100,000 a year(Pete Rose). That's 100 thousand a year, not millions. Pretty soon some of you "young ones" will be saying, "get off my lawn".

Double posting makes you ponder getting old, too. Or it should. *wink*

And the biggest cost, median and average home price, is less now than in 2004.

darn I pad, lots of time it "loses page", has to reload. So when I post, never sure "it took it" the first time but yes, I ponder as Im ticked off over the "bugs" sometimes found in the wacky world of social media.

I remember when Brian Bosworth signed a 10 year, $11 million deal and thinking Wow, nobody's worth that.
