Thread: Keeping up with the Sun Belt

Default Keeping up with the Sun Belt

As we transition to FBS and the Sun Belt. We should keep up with the Sun Belt so we can all know who are the teams to beat in our new Conference.

Week 1 saw the Sun Belt go 4-4, with bad losses to Southern Utah and Samford, a couple nice wins against Kentucky and Southern Miss. It did not look like Arkansas took Lafayette lightly, and Oklahoma put a hurtin' on La-Monroe.

Looks like Western Kentucky is trying to prove a point in their last season in the Belt.

Sun Belt newcomers (next year), Idaho and New Mexico State were blown out by North Texas and Texas respectively.

Texas St over Southern Miss 22-15 and Troy over UAB 34-31 in OT. The Troy QB Corey Robinson set an NCAA record for completion percentage with 93.8%, going 30-32 for 319 yards. Both are good wins vs. the CUSA.

I think these games against other "Gang of Five" schools are the most important right now. If the SBC could consistently hold winning records over schools in these leagues then we change the perception of the SBC being the bottom of those five.

Looking at the teams that will take part in SBC football next year then week 1 produced a 2-1 record for SBC:
    Week 1 -
    SBC vs
    CUSA
Idaho vs North Texas (Lost 40-6)
Texas St vs Southern Miss (Won 22-15)
    Troy vs UAB (Won 34-31)

This week against the GoF is:
    Week 2 -
    SBC vs
    CUSA
    South Alabama vs Tulane
    MWC
    Idaho vs Wyoming
