Re: will their be a 2020 football season???? ;-(

Yeah, me too. We won’t know for a few months, though.

In the meantime, we’ve got bigger fish to fry than sports.

Stranger things have happened. I wouldn’t expect him to get drafted, but guys his size/strength who can play in space are petty rare.

Anyway, it’s his backup, Alvin Ward, who’s transferred. If...

Re: will their be a 2020 football season???? ;-(

That's probably true. However, if we're still looking uphill at this thing in the middle of the summer, they won't have much choice.

We probably won't have answers about fall semester until...

Re: will their be a 2020 football season???? ;-(

IMO, it really depends on how things look between June 15 and July 15.

By that latter date, colleges and universities will basically have to decide whether they can proceed with a "normal" Fall...

    Re: New Conference Logo

New logo makes it more likely that I'll spontaneously chant "S-B-C, S-B-C!" when I see TxSt winning an OOC game.

    Not.

Come on, man. Every season of Magnum, P.I. is available on Prime Video. Why are you watching garbage like American Pickers and Storage Wars?

    Why would I?

I do 1K pushups+sit-ups before noon. I flip tractor tires and run sprints after work.

Re: Will the Sun Belt be next

Oh, I wasn’t picking on bubble screens. They’re just redundant in an offense that runs 85% of the time.

My guess is that we might want to use RPOs that punish LBs who crash hard against the IZ. If...

Re: Will the Sun Belt be next

Ruse worked hard to integrate short passes in 2014-15. They weren’t particularly effective, as we couldn’t execute against one-on-one coverage after Ellison shredded his shoulder.

    IMO, an...

Re: Will the Sun Belt be next

I’m not convinced that either one by themselves would make a huge difference. Maybe no huddle + checking plays from the OC’s box would help. Again, I’m not sure how much.

    Being able to throw the...

Re: Will the Sun Belt be next

    Well said.

I’m not quite sure what the “weak link” is in our current offense, but there is one.

The veer/flex system didn’t really have a missing link, though that offense could be contained...

Pushups can go a long way for those skill players! ;)

Re: Virus work outs and training.

2020 is gonna be a weird season if we’re fortunate enough to see it.

I hope most programs are on the same level re: contact with players while this plays out. If “we” can keep programs from...

Re: Will the Sun Belt be next

QBs checked plays from under center all along. That’s part of the offense, under Erk, PJ, Stowers, Sewak, or whoever. However, that’s a lot different than relaying entirely new play calls from the...

Re: Will the Sun Belt be next

Thing is, in a GOOD option system, you shouldn't need to adjust every play from the sideline.

You just check numbers and switch the playside if necessary. If the play's executed properly, the...

That’s kinda like saying PJ didn’t run Erk/Stowers’ offense in 1997.

    I mean, of course not, but . . .

Why don’t you just say “DeBesse doesn’t run the flexbone”? That would be (mostly) accurate.

Re: Will the Sun Belt be next

    Who knows?

The key point from the first week of spring ball is that we were installing a whole new passing game. My guess is more screens and more RPO, mostly re-designed to take pressure off the...
